The pace of change that were seeing across industry is unprecedented and we need to take up opportunities in emerging sectors and adopt new technologies to respond to future needs. However, to do this, we need to be able to take risks, which is why adopting the right core values, ethics and competencies is critical. I want to raise the competency level across the profession and ensure that engineers and technologists are valued. Throughout my career Ive witnessed professionalism at its very best and Ive also worked on government reviews where people have experienced an injustice through poor ethics and incompetence. We need to eliminate bad practice and demonstrate to society that, as a profession, we are trusted to create solutions to global issues such as sustainability and a digital future.
