Our Faraday Challenge Days When was the last time you saw 12 and 13 year olds clamouring to get back to work after their lunchbreak? Our Faraday Challenge Days take teams of children out of the classroom and put them in charge of coming up with a working prototype to solve a problem facing engineers today – by the end of the school day. And they deliver, imaginatively and resourcefully. Even those who have never thought about engineering are surprised by how much they can achieve in just one day. Our challenge partners In 2017/18, our challenge partner was Thorpe Park, highlighting how the thrills and spills of a theme park aren’t possible without skilled engineers. Since September 2018, the children have focused on the difficulties of designing and launching the precision instrument that is the James Webb Space Telescope. All of our challenges are accessible and replicable in the classroom. And we’re delighted to have been able to deliver 189 free Faraday Challenge Days in the 2018/19 season to schools across the UK, thanks to support from our donors.
