4 Alliance will advance the UK’s cyber security profession The IET has joined forces with cyber security organisations to support the development of the profession in the UK. The alliance aims to provide clarity around the skills, competences and career pathways within the cyber industry, and will initially support commitments expressed within the UK National Cyber Security Strategy. Ahmed Kotb, IET Cyber Lead, said: “It’s fundamental that cyber security is seen as an established profession, and we are in support of a professional body to recognise the breadth of expertise within the industry. The alliance offers integration and coordination of existing Chartered and professional bodies across a range of cyber disciplines, that can provide credibility and knowledge to help deliver this work. “With cyber skills shortages already emerging at every level, we are committed to working with the UK Government and the National Cyber Security Centre on the best solution.” MEMBER NEWS IET Headlines IET has its say on hot topics Incorporated Engineer wins prestigious award Incorporated Engineer and IET member Matthew Foyle has won the 2018 Baroness Platt of Writtle Award, after being nominated by the IET.
