19 IET On Campus Group of the Year Award Competitions for students, apprentices and early career professionals Global Challenge 2018/19 Help solve one of the biggest threats to our oceans of all time Our Global Challenge is an exciting competition for teams of young innovators aged 18-35. Use your engineering, technical and commercial skills to develop an innovative solution to a real world problem – the increasing plastic waste in our oceans! You have a choice between two challenges set by our partners, Greenpeace and GreenSeas Trust. What’s on offer? An all-expenses paid trip to the IET’s prestigious Innovation Awards ceremony in London to connect and celebrate with industry leaders and innovators at the top of their field. The winning solutions will be revealed to the audience on the night. Both challenges will have a winning team who will each receive a £500 cash prize, trophy and certificate for each team member. Who’s it for? Teams should compromise of three to four people aged 18 to 35 years. Top tip: you may want to consider involving a person in your team who has marketing experience! What else do I need to know? –  At least 1 team member must be an IET member –  You can enter in just three easy steps; get your team, choose your challenge, prepare your proposal and submit online! We have collaborated with Greenpeace Environmental Trust (registered charity 284934) (“Greenpeace”), who has provided the brief for this year’s Global Challenge, with the aim of finding a solution to tackle a real world problem. Greenpeace has also provided an individual to join the competition judging panel. When’s the deadline? The Global Challenge consists of two rounds; the first submission deadline is 14 March 2019. Four teams per challenge from round one will be selected by judging panels to go forward to round two. Together, we can engineer a better future for the world’s oceans.
