AF Amistad High School Family Handbook 2017-2018 | 13 Bus Transportation New Haven Bus Transportation Busing to and from AFAHS for New Haven students is provided by the bus company First Student via the New Haven Board of Education (NHBOE). The NHBOE Transportation Department determines the eligibility of a student for school busing, as well as the location of bus stops. Parents must notify the NHBOE Registration Office at 54 Meadow Street of changes in address before any bus route changes will be implemented by the NHBOE Transportation Department and First Student. The NHBOE Transportation Department is responsible for approving requests for regular alternate pick up or drop off, such as afterschool care, temporary living situation due to parental absence, etc. Questions related to eligibility for bus transportation, bus stop locations, and temporary changes in bus routes for New Haven scholars, should be directed to the NHBOE Transportation Department at 203-946-8418. Bridgeport Bus Transportation Busing to and from AFAHS for Bridgeport students is provided by the bus company B&B through a contract with AFAHS. B&B, in coordination with AFAHS, determines the eligibility of a student for school busing, as well as the location of bus stops. Questions related to eligibility for bus transportation, bus stop locations, and temporary changes in bus routes for Bridgeport scholars, should be directed to AFAHS. After School Busing After School busing is provided for Bridgeport scholars so that they may participate in clubs, tutoring, detention, and other mandatory and voluntary after school activities. Scholars who stay after school but who do not participate in a sanctioned activity of the school are not permitted to ride the after school bus. The after school bus stops at 9 designated stops. After School busing is not provided for New Haven scholars. Those scholars should be picked up, use public transportation (AFAHS is located on the “D” bus line), or walk home. The Athletic Department operates practice and game busing for scholars from Bridgeport (to and from AF Bridgeport Middle School).
