b'Healthy Futures and RSVP RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is a part of AmeriCorps Seniors whichfocuses on six areas of critical need in communities. Healthy Futures centers aroundolder adults ability to age comfortably in their homes and individuals of any age in thecommunity that are at-risk of and/or are food insecure. Volunteers serve in thefollowing Healthy Futures areas across our five counties.Companionship Volunteers Companionship Volunteers check on their homeboundneighbors. They sit and visit, bring snacks or a meal inan effort to make sure these older adults are doingwell. Judy Huett is such a volunteer. When you enterher apartment, you see every surface is covered by acraft in process. When someone is not feeling well or islonely, Judy simply picks a homemade item and takesit to them. With her work all around her, she knowsjust what to give someone in need. She is the trueexample of a companionship volunteer.Judy HuettFood Pantries, Drops, and Crisis Intervention CentersTh RSVP food pantries, drops and crisis centers support people of all ages who are foodinsecure or in need. These agencies are located in every county and clients are providedwith fresh and canned foods. Some agencies also provide clothes and sometimes moneyto help with heating bills or other necessities.The Camp Hill Food Pantry provides food weekly to its clients in this historic buteconomically challenged community. The pantry is housed in a building owned by thetown next to the historic First Universalist Church of Camp Hill. The church supports thepantry with the majority of food items coming from the East Alabama Food Bank.The RSVP volunteers that run the pantryevery Wednesday are dedicated tomaking sure the 47 clients served get 10pounds of food each week or fortypounds each month.
