b'Partner News Summer 2023 37CorporateThe result is that instead of a bespoke drawing being created for each distribution board every time one needs to be included in a project, users can input their requirements and a solution is created in seconds. This is then automatically synced with Revit, and once the configuration is approved, an order is issued directly to our factory for assembly.Standardising these offsite products has been transformative. As well as ensuring the same products are used across multiple projects, by adopting a standardised solution we can remove even more hours from project sites, which has benefits for the environment and health and safety.Using the example of distribution boards, each year NG Bailey procure 1,520 distribution boards with an average of only 220 being configured offsite. By standardising this, we have removed an additional 11,700 hours from site. Managing information more effectively The final area where digital transformation has been vital is data management. Most modern construction projects require a vast amount of data to be included within the building information model, which can make managing this information highly complex. Ensuring this data can be readily accessed and easily understood is vital to keeping buildings and the people within them safe. As such, we created an internally developed system that separates information from our models and can pull in data from different sources to be managed in one tool. This makes data much easier to access and manage, which will be vital for new legislation such as the Building Safety Act.Bringing it all together At NG Bailey, getting on board with digital solutions has been transformative for our business. As well as improving efficiency and increasing productivity, weve also seen increasing environmental and health and safety benefits from being able to move even more of our processes offsite. With digital transformation moving at pace amongst all industries, its time for the construction industry to embrace digital construction and to reap the benefits of better integration, less siloed working, and more streamlined workflows.'
