b'Partner News Spring 2021 9MODWhat are your views on Professional Registration and how important it is? I think Professional Registration is quite heavily underestimated. It wasnt until I started down the route myself that I started to learn and understand what it was about. Now I have it, I would recommend it to anybody. It consolidates your engineering knowledge and brings it all together. Without it, we would be writing CVs 30 pages long! I would advise preparation, preparation, preparation. I didnt get advice from my Professional Registration Advisor (PRA) nearly enough and I found out I was in trouble quite quickly. I would lean into the PRAs massively. And finally, do you have any hobbies and interests away from work?Im quite passionate about engineering, so if Im not at work Im tinkering in my shed, I like woodwork and I build furniture. I like everything from woodwork down to Lego, so most of my hobbies come back to engineering or creating. Im also a STEM Ambassador in Lancaster and have worked with a few Year 3 classes. Ive achieved a BEng and MSc during my time in the Navy, my aspiration is to complete an Autonomous PhD before I hang my hat up.CPOET(WE) Peter Spayne BEng MSc IEng MIET, winner of the 2020 Rear Admiral Bateson award.'
