b'GRANTEE STORIESIn 2023, the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation partnered with 182 organizations. All of them are dedicated to helping those in need. Following, are some highlighted grantee stories. HUNGER & THIRST: St. Leos Soup KitchenSt. Leos Soup Kitchen is an institution in Detroit, where they fed the hungry from the basement of St. Leos Parish for more than 50 years. In 2021, summer storms and flooding caused irreparable damage to their kitchen, forcing them to find a new home. With the support of the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation and the community, they relocated to the Center for the Works of Mercy. They reopened for business in November 2022, serving 30 carryout meals a day. Today, they are back to full operations serving 150 hot meals each Tuesday through Friday with the help of more than 100 volunteers. In 2023, they provided more than 21,000 meals. St. Leos Soup Kitchen offers more than a meal, they offer dignity and hope to each person who comes for help.CARE FOR OTHERS: Street Medicine InstituteSince2009,theStreetMedicineInstitute(SMI)hassoughttoinspireandequip communities to provide street medicine services to the homeless. Street medicine refers to delivering health care to people experiencing homelessness where they areon the streets. With help from the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, SMI launched the Seed Grant program in 2021 providing communities with resources and expertise to launch new street medicine programs. Communities in Colorado, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, and Washington, DC received seed grants allowing them to bring medical care and help to their unhoused neighbors. EDUCATION: Fabretto Childrens FoundationBuilding on the work of their founder, Padre Fabretto, and their decades of experience inNicaragua,theFabrettoChildrensFoundationsprogramsseektoempower children and youth in Central America. In 2023, with a grant from the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, Fabretto worked with local partners in Honduras to implement andscaleprogramsthatimproveeducation,nutrition,and youthempowerment. This work has reached more than 1,400 students. Fabretto is dedicated to making sustainable change and improving the future for youth through expanded education and leadership opportunities.SHELTER: The Exodus RoadTheExodusRoadactivelyfightsagainsthumantraffickingthroughcollaboration with law enforcement and empowering survivors. Their work has helped survivors in the US, Asia, and Latin America through training and education, intervention, and aftercare. One of their signature initiatives is the Freedom Home in Thailand, offering a culturally relevant and trauma-informed approach for adult female survivors of trafficking, particularly those who have faced sexual exploitation. This sanctuary not only provides a secure haven but also equips survivors with essential tools for rebuilding their lives, such as access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
